Weekend Preview: Bulls Face RoadRunners in Kansas

WHEN: Friday and Saturday at 7 pm

BROADCAST OPTIONS: Friday's game can be heard live on Amarillo's Rock Station Rock 108 beginning with the Wayland Baptist University Warm Up Show at 6:40 pm. Denis J. Puska has the puck drop at 7 pm. On Saturday, the game can be heard live on CBS Sports Radio 1440 also starting at 6:40 pm. The games are also available on www.amarillobulls.com and on PPV courtesy of Fast Hockey.

BULLS NEXT AT HOME: The Amarillo Bulls return to home ice next Friday, Oct. 10 to host the Wichita Falls Wildcats at 7 pm. It's Family Fun Night with fans being able to get either the Family Four Pack or Bring A Bud Pack Ticket Specials. The Family Four Pack consists of four tickets, four sodas and four hotdogs for $44, while Bring A Bud Pack has two tickets, two sodas and two hotdogs for $22.

THE SERIES: These are the first of eight meetings this season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Topeka RoadRunners. The two teams have not seen one another since game five of the South Division final in May where Topeka ousted Amarillo for the first time in five years.

Last season, the Bulls won the first five games of the season series, including three of them by shutouts before Topeka won the final seven and then the first two of the South Division final.

TOUGH WEEKENDS FOR BOTH: The Amarillo Bulls and Topeka RoadRunners were a combined 0-3-1 in opening weekend play in the South Division. The Bulls were beaten 5-3 and 3-2 in overtime by the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on home ice, while Topeka was stopped 3-1 and then 5-1 by the Wichita Falls Wildcats.

BULLS NOTES: Ruslan Rakhmatov leads all Bulls in points with six, and all of the coming in assists. Forwards Cody Gylling has five points, while Charlie Combs, and Joey DiBenedetto each have four. After going scoreless in the four first periods to start the season, the Amarillo Bulls were able to scoring goals in each of the first periods last weekend. The Bulls are second in total penalty minutes at 163 behind the Johnstown Tomahawks.

TOPEKA ICE CHIPS: Topeka has managed to score first in all six of their wins, while four have also come when they have outshot an opponent. David Razavsky, Jasen Fernsler, Sly Sutter and Mike Gornall have scored 14 of the team's 29 goals. Razavsky and Fernsler each have 10 points. The RoadRunners also lead the NAHL with 11 power play goals and are third in penalty killing efficiency.
