Lethbridge Hurricanes News Release
Lethbridge, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes swung a multi-player deal Tuesday sending Reid Duke, Macoy Erkamps and prospect Tak Anholt to Brandon for 18 year old's Ryley Lindgren, Kord Pankewicz and Brett Kitt.
5'11, 194 pound Centre Ryley Lindgren, the Wheat Kings 5th round Bantam pick in 2011, has played 75 games for Brandon with 19 points (9G, 10A). Lethbridge Hurricanes General Manager, Brad Robson likes Lindgren and what he can bring to the hockey club. "He's a good, hard-working and gritty two-way centre. He'll help us both in the offensive and defensive zone and he'll continue to get better with time. We expect him to be a 30 to 40 point guy on the team."
Left winger, Brett Kitt, at 6'1 and 201 pounds put up over a point a game in Manitoba's Midget Triple A hockey league. In 37 games with the Wheat Kings last season he registered 10 points. Kord Pankewicz, a 5'11, 205 pound defenceman, has 15 points in 88 games with the Wheat Kings. In 4 games this season he is a +2 plus/minus rating with a goal. "Kitt is a big, strong physical player who wins battles, he's strong on the forecheck and hard to play against. Pankewicz is a former first round pick of the Wheat Kings. He's a big, strong kid with offensive upside, he plays both end of the rink and his experience in the league is a valuable addition to the team" commented Robson.
Duke, a 2014 6th round NHL draft pick of the Minnesota Wild was the Hurricanes 5th overall selection in the 2011 Bantam Draft. The native of Calgary had career highs in goals, assists and points last season with 40 points (15G, 25A) in 62 games. Erkamps was drafted by the Hurricanes in 2010 and played 66 games where he led all defensemen in scoring with 31 points, including 26 assists. Last season, Tak Anholt, the Hurricanes 2nd round pick in 2013 played with the Vancouver NW Giants of the BCMML. In 33 games he tallied 21 points including 12 goals.
The Hurricanes wish the best to all players as they continue their hockey careers with Brandon.
