Buckner at the Bijou: a Bluefish World Series Party

(Bridgeport, Conn. - September 29, 2014) - The Bridgeport Bluefish have announced that they will be hosting Buckner at the Bijou: A Bluefish World Series viewing party at the Bijou Theatre on Wednesday, October 22nd from 7-9pm. The event will feature former Boston Red Sox slugger Bill Buckner as well a viewing event of the World Series game that night.

"We are thrilled to be partnering with the historic Bijou Theatre to host our inaugural World Series Party," said Bluefish General Manager Jamie Toole. "Bill Buckner is one of baseball's iconic figures and we look forward to Buckner at the Bijou being a memorable event."

During the event, there will be a meet and greet with Buckner as well as opportunities for autographs and photos with the former Red Sox player. The World Series game that night will be shown on the big screen at the Bijou Theatre and fans will have the chance to meet some of the Bluefish players as well. The Bluefish organization will also be making a major announcement that evening in regards to a future event during the 2015 season.

Tickets for Buckner and the Bijou cost $35 per person and include two drink tickets and appetizers. There is also Buckner at The Bijou Sponsorship opportunities available as well. Bill Buckner played in the Major Leagues for 21 years and played for five different teams during his career. Buckner won the National League batting title while with the Chicago Cubs during the 1980 season and was named a National League All-Star in 1981. He was also a member of the Boston Red Sox for five seasons, from 1984-87 and then again during his final professional year in 1990.

The Bijou Theatre, located at 275 Fairfield Ave. in Bridgeport, CT, is one of the most historic buildings in Bridgeport, having been in existence since the early 1900s. The building is one of the oldest buildings in the United States used as a movie theater and was part of the Bijou Square renaissance project in 2011.
