Regina Pats News Release

Regina, Saskatchewan - The Regina Pats (2-2-0-0) made it two wins in a row on the road as the Bue and White came from behind in the third to win over the Prince Albert Raiders (2-1-0-0) by a 4-3 score.

First Period

After playing the previous night, the Pats didn't seem as fresh as the Prince Albert Raiders who weren't in action Friday. With the help of some early powerplays, the Raiders continued to lean on the Blue and White offensively and would get the first goal of the contest. On a 4-on-3 powerplay, Sawyer Lange sent a shot toward the net and Jordan Tkatch tipped it passed Daniel Wapple for his first as a Raider. The Pats stayed in penalty trouble and found themselves down 5-on-3, but would escape the period only down 1-0. Prince Albert left the two man advantage frustrated after Lange and Mackenzie Stewart each hit the crossbar. The Raiders led the shots on goal 10-5 after the opening twenty.

Second Period

Regina came out with a lot more jump in the second period and was quickly rewarded with a go ahead marker. Pavel Padakin pulled defenders to the side before hitting Colton Kroeker in slot and the rookie picked the top corner for his first WHL goal. Just 29 seconds later, Colby Williams fired from the point and the puck ricocheted off skates and Patrick D'Amico's stick to give the Pats their first lead. That would hold until late in the frame when the Queen City Kids got into penalty trouble again. The Raiders took advantage of the 5-on-3 when Jayden Hart walked into the slot and ripped a shot in off the bar. Just 12 seconds later, the Raiders connected on a great passing play finishing with Craig Leverton for the goal and a 3-2 lead for Prince Albert after two. Shots remained in the Raiders favour, 22-18.

Third Period

Looking for the tie, the Pats brought pressure throughout a free-flowing third period and would outshoot the Raiders 17-7 in the frame. The tying goal didn't come until late when Rylee Zimmer got out on a breakaway, only to have his stick hacked away resulting in a penalty shot. Zimmer moved in off the wing and beat McBride to the blocker side to even the game 3-3. With time dwindling, Patrick D'Amico saved the puck out of a scramble in front of the Regina net and started off a 3-on-1. Austin Wagner slid the puck to D'Amico before the overager went back door to Adam Brooks for what stood up as the winning goal as the Pats took a 4-3 win in Prince Albert. Final shots sat in the Pats favour 35-29.

The Pats are back in action at the Brandt Centre Saturday, October 4th against the Raiders. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.ca or the Brandt Centre Box Office.
