SAINT JOHN - Thomas Chabot and Justice Dundas each scored twice and Sebastien Auger kicked aside 29 shots, leading the Saint John Sea Dogs to a 7-0 victory over the Halifax Mooseheads in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Saturday at Harbour Station.

Juraj Siska, Jakub Zboril and Mitchell Dempsey also scored for Saint John (3-1-0-1), which won its third straight game, and second in a row against Halifax.

The Mooseheads (2-3-1-0) were shut out for the second time this season.

The Sea Dogs nearly opened the scoring with the game just a minute old.

With Saint John shorthanded, Halifax goalie Zachary Fucale moved to the right of his goal to attempt a long pass into the neutral zone. Samuel Dove-McFalls intercepted the pass near the red line and fired it toward the empty net, but Fucale dove to his left to deflect the puck wide.

Chabot opened the scoring just over six minutes in with a long shot from the left point that snuck through Fucale's legs.

The Sea Dogs doubled their lead with two minutes left in the period. Moments after a missed scoring opportunity, Mark Tremaine sent a short pass from the right wing side of the goal line into the low slot where the overager Dundas, making his Sea Dogs' debut, snapped a one-time shot inside the right post. Braydon Blight, in his first career Sea Dog game, earned an assist for his first point.

Saint John continued to find the net in the second period.

Six-and-a-half minutes into middle frame, Chabot ripped another shot from the left point that Fucale stopped. The rebound bounced into the goal off a teammate's leg, giving Saint John a 3-0 lead.

Siska buried his first QMJHL goal with six minutes left in the second period. The Slovakian winger, who had a goal called back in Halifax last weekend, charged in on the right wing side, moved into the middle of the ice and rifled a wrist shot over Fucale's glove.

The Sea Dogs used a 4-on-3 power play to get their fifth goal, as Jakub Zboril sent a blast from the slot past Fucale, who had lost his stick during an earlier scramble. It was Zboril's first career QMJHL goal.

Saint John carried a 5-0 lead into the third period.

Moose winger Philippe Gadoury, playing just his second game of the season, was awarded a penalty shot seventy seconds into the frame.

The second-year Moosehead faked a slap shot in the slot, and then tried a deke to his backhand, but Auger stayed with the move and snared the shot with his catching hand.

Dundas scored again about four minutes later on a 3-on-1 rush, using his teammates as decoys before ripping a hard, low wrister from the right side that beat Fucale inside the right post.

Fucale, the 2013 second-round pick of the Montreal Canadiens, was pulled after allowing six goals on 37 shots. He was replaced by Kevin Resop.

Forward Matthew Highmore left the game with more than eleven minutes left after he was hit from behind by Halifax's Danny Moynihan in the Saint John zone. Moynihan was assessed a double-minor on the play.

The Sea Dogs wrapped up the scoring with two-and-a-half minutes left as the teams skated 4-on-4. Tremaine muscled his way from behind the net toward the left wing side of the crease and found Dempsey on the other side. The Boston Bruins prospect made no mistake for his third goal in two games against Halifax.

Resop made eight stops in relief of Fucale.

Dundas earned first star honours while Siska took second star. Auger made it a three-star sweep with the third selection in front of 3,185 fans in attendance.
