Trio of Forwards Added to RiverKings Roster

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Derek Landmesser announced today that the RiverKings have signed three forwards to the training camp roster. The team re-signed Ryan Marcuz and added Ryan Huolt and Jack Paul. Terms and conditions were not released.

Marcuz, 25, finished the 2013-14 season with the RiverKings after graduating from SUNY-Morrisville. He played nine games in the regular season and one game in the playoffs for the RiverKings, contributing two assists. The 5-foot-10, 210-pound winger finished his four-year career at SUNY-Morrisville with 87 games played and 56 points (22g, 34a).

"Ryan had a sample of pro hockey coming in late last season," Landmesser said. "I look for him to build off of last year and to play a big role on our third line."

The Richmond Hill, Ontario native played his junior hockey with five different teams in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) from 2007 to 2010.

Huolt, 21, enters his rookie season after completing three seasons with the Camrose Kodiaks in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) where he had 41 points (20g, 21a) in 137 games.

"Ryan is a young physical high energy player who skates real well and comes highly recommended from his former coach in juniors," Landmesser said.

The 5-foot-11, 176-pound forward had 339 career penalty minutes, including nine fights, for the Kodiaks.

"I'm excited about the opportunity I've been given," Huolt said. "Coming into camp, I want to make a physical impact and be a character player. I'm a hard-working, passionate guy and know that I can contribute to the team's success."

Paul, 26, began his professional career in Germany in 2013-14 after playing four seasons at Bethel College (MIAC). In Germany, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound Minnetonka, Minnesota native had 54 points (30g, 24a) in 38 regular season game and another 10 points (4g, 6a) in 10 playoff games. He had 103 points in 99 games at Bethel College and 79 points in 96 games with the North Iowa Outlaws (NAHL).

"Jack has put up real good numbers offensively in junior hockey as well as in college," Landmesser said.

"I'm just really excited about getting down to Southaven and getting to work," Paul said. "I've heard great things about the organization and Coach Landmesser and I'm looking forward to finding my role and helping the team win however I can."

The RiverKings open their 2014-15 quest for the President's Cup on October 24 and 25 at the Landers Center in Southaven, Miss.
