Match Preview: Crew Looks to Extend Home Winning Streak to Five

Columbus Crew SC News Release
COLUMBUS - The Columbus Crew (10-9-10, 40 points) concludes a two-match homestand by facing the Montreal Impact (6-17-6, 24 points) on Saturday, September 27 at 7:30 p.m. ET. Time Warner Cable SportsChannel is televising the game, with Dwight Burgess, Chris Doran and Ashleigh Ignelzi on the call. Neil Sika and John Bluem are set to describe the action for 95.5 The Game, with Carlos Cordova and Juan Valladares behind the microphone for La Mega 103.1 FM.
Saturday's clash is the third of three meetings between the Crew and Impact this season. The first match-up between the two sides took place at Crew Stadium on July 19, a battle that Columbus won 2-1 behind two goals from Bernardo Anor. The clubs then met at Stade Saputo on August 30 when Ignacio Piatti's brace led Montreal to a 2-0 victory.
All-time, the Crew is 5-2-1 when facing Montreal, with a perfect 4-0-0 record in Columbus against the Impact. The Crew is also 4-0-0 over its last four home tilts overall, a streak extending back to August 16 against the LA Galaxy. With a victory over the Impact, the Crew would record its first five-match home winning streak since 2012, when it won five tests consecutively from August 22 to September 29. Following this match, the Black & Gold are set to depart for a three-match road swing before returning home in the regular season's final battle against Philadelphia.
Steve Clark has had back-to-back weeks of six-save performances, pushing his season total to 91 saves through 29 outings. With five matches remaining in regular-season play, Clark is nine saves shy of 100. If he reaches that milestone, he would become just the second Crew goalkeeper in the last decade to do so, joining Andy Gruenebaum's 124 stops in 2012. That mark ranks fourth all-time in the Black & Gold's history for a single-season effort .
