Nashville Venom News Release

NASHVILLE-The Nashville Venom continued their busy offseason as they re-signed two local players and another player from the 2014 Professional Indoor Football League Championship team. Former Vanderbilt University and Whites Creek High School star Jamie Graham along with defensive backfield mate and Lebanon, Tennessee native Ken Walton along with lineman James Jenkins all agreed to terms for the 2015 season.

Graham played in four games at defensive back and grabbed four interceptions. He also contributed 18 total tackles and broke up eight passes. The rookie defender missed the playoffs because of a lower leg injury he suffered in the last regular season game. Walton contributed 10 tackles in three games. He currently plays for the Nashville Storm of the Gridiron Developmental Football League. The 6'7 300 lbs. Jenkins was a healthy scratch for most of the season.

"We have made a concerted effort to sign local guys this season," said Venom General Manager/Head Coach Billy Back. From what I am told Jaime Graham is somewhat of a folk hero around Nashville. He stepped in and learned our defense quick. He would have had a chance to contribute on offense but he couldn't stay healthy. Next year you will see a lot more from him. Ken played well for us and was a great team player. He stepped in and made plays when we needed him to. James contributed in giving our guys good reps in practice. I can't wait to see them on the field."

Graham, who was an all-state recipient in football and basketball in high school, intercepted two passes in his first ever indoor game. He playing on both sides of the ball at a high level is not foreign to him as he played wide receiver and defensive back for Vanderbilt. The athletic Graham also was part of the Commodore basketball team. 2014 was an up and down season for Graham. He hopes 2015 will be much better for him individually.

"It's always a privilege to play for a team in your hometown," said Graham. To be a part of a championship team made it even better. This opportunity is great and I am blessed to be able to come back another year. It was tough having to watch but I had faith in my teammates. My role changed so I cheered them on and I was never worried. I wanted to be on the field bad but it is what it is. I am training hard now so I can contribute. We have a great going and I want to be a part of it."
