Silvertips Deal Jones to Lethbridge

Everett Silvertips News Release
EVERETT - The Everett Silvertips today announced a trade that finds 20-year-old forward Zane Jones heading to the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft. The transaction brings Everett's roster down to the league maximum of three 1994-born players: forwards Kohl Bauml and Brayden Low and defenseman Ben Betker.
"With Ben Betker coming back from Edmonton this week, we knew we had to make a move with our overagers," said General Manager Garry Davidson. "All four are quality players and it was always going to be a tough decision. Right now we feel good about going forward with Ben, Kohl and Brayden for this season. We're also glad to get some value in return for Zane and wish him the best of luck back in his home province this season."
Jones joined the Silvertips in a trade with the Calgary Hitmen just before last year's WHL trading deadline. Injuries limited the Olds, Alberta native to only 11 regular season games with Everett, in which time he totaled four points (2g/2a) and 17 penalty minutes. He had one assist in five playoff games with the 'Tips in the spring and played in this year's season-opening win Saturday night against the Seattle Thunderbirds.
In 192 WHL games with the Silvertips, Hitmen and Victoria Royals, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound winger has 104 career points on 48 goals and 56 assists. Jones also has 183 penalty minutes and a +11 plus/minus rating in addition to seven points (3g/4a) in 26 WHL playoff games.
The Silvertips travel to Portland this weekend for a pair of games at the Moda Center. The 'Tips and Winterhawks face-off at 7:00 pm Saturday and 5:00 pm on Sunday, with both games being broadcast live on Fox Sports 1380 and streaming video available via WHL Live. Everett opens the home schedule next weekend, hosting the Kelowna Rockets on Friday, Oct. 3 and the Winterhawks on Saturday, Oct. 4.
