Idaho Steelheads News Release

Boise, ID (9/24/14) - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Wednesday that the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads have agreed to terms with forward Levi Nelson.

Nelson, 26, spent last season playing professionally in Italy after spending most of his pro career in the American Hockey League, the highest level of minor-league hockey in North America. In 138 AHL games, the Calgary native has 17 goals. He appeared in 32 games with Bakersfield of the ECHL during the 2012-13 season, leading the team in scoring (24 points) before a mid-season trade to Greenville. He had two goals in five games against Idaho before being dealt to the Road Warriors. Nelson was a sixth-round selection of the Boston Bruins in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Ralph on Nelson: "Levi has exceptional vision along with a high hockey IQ. He plays with an edge to his game and brings AHL experience which makes him very dynamic."

With the addition of Nelson, the Steelheads have twelve forwards on the training-camp roster: Nelson, Wade MacLeod, Steve Quailer, James Livingston, Jason Bast, Gaelan Patterson, David deKastrozza, Brett Robinson, Luke Judson, Rob Linsmayer, Colton Beck and Kyle Gibbons. Training camp begins on October 6.

Group outings at a Steelheads game are a great way to gather friends, colleagues, or co-workers for a fun night out in downtown Boise. Ticket prices are discounted and you can get a Pepsi, Double-R Ranch Hot Dog, and bag of Tim's Cascade Chips with each ticket. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
