Alexander Re-Signs, Wendecker Signed

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Huntsville Havoc head coach Glenn Detulleo announced today that forward Eric Alexander has re-signed and the team has signed defenseman Phillip Wendecker.

"I'm looking forward to seeing Eric at training camp this year," Detulleo said. "He joined us midway through the season last year and showed the potential to be a dominant power forward. I'm looking for him to bring more consistency in order to take the next step in his development."

Alexander (6-2, 205) joined the team for the second half of last season and scored six goals and had seven assists in 29 games. He scored two goals and added two assists in five playoff games. The Kentwood, Michigan native spent four season at Ferris State University where he socred 19 goals and had 28 assists in 124 games. He joined the South Carolina Stingrays late in the 2012-13 season and scored one goal and had three assists in two regular season games and one assist in four playoff games.

"I'm really excited to be playing in Huntsville for the Havoc again," Alexander said. "It's such a great organization with a great group of guys and I'm excited to the season going and on the way to a SPHL championship."

Wendecker (6-2, 185) has spent the last four seasons playing at Davenport University where he served as captain last season. The Westland, Michigan native played in 131 career games and scored 58 goals and recorded 70 assists. He also played three seasons of junior hockey for the Traverse City North Stars where he scored 15 goals and recorded 29 assists in 138 games.

"Phil may be coming from a lesser known college program, but he came highly recommended," Detulleo said. "He was the leader for his team and contributed in every aspect of his team's success. He was selected to be a member of team USA for the world university games which should prepare him to make the jump to pro hockey."

"I'm looking forward to opening a new chapter in my life and my hockey career," Wendecker said. "I'm thrilled to have an opportunity with an organization like Huntsville that has such a strong reputation and professional culture. I'm eager to get started right away!"

The Havoc open their home schedule on Saturday, November 1 at 7:30 against the Louisiana Ice Gators.
