BOISE, Idaho (September 22, 2014) - The Idaho Stampede Community Foundation will receive the 2014 Outstanding Foundation Award on National Philanthropy Day by the Idaho chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. The Stampede will be presented the award on Wednesday, November 12.

"It's a great honor to be acknowledged for our Foundation's achievements," said Stampede President & General Manager Steve Brandes. "Our foundation owes everything to the local business community for stepping up as responsible corporate citizens and supporting our foundation's initiatives. Without their support our foundation's efforts would not be as successful."

In the past year, the Idaho Stampede Community Foundation raised over $60,000 for local organizations and donated over $27,250 in goods and services. The Stampede has also hosted its first ever Autism Awareness Night, Idaho Hemophilia Foundation Night and "End the 'R' Word Night".

In addition to donations, the Stampede has participated in a number of community initiatives with local schools and organizations. On January 31 and February 1, the Stampede played in special pink uniforms to raise breast cancer awareness. All the proceeds of the jersey auction were donated to the mammography assistance fund at St. Luke's Mountain States Tumor Institute (MSTI). With the help of HP, the Community Foundation also worked with local middle schools and incentivized them to excel in math and science. The Stampede also participated in the "NBA Read to Achieve" program with the help of KeyBank, visiting 17 different elementary schools to read with students and promote the importance of education. Through Blue Cross of Idaho, the community foundation executed a fitness initiative involving 10 elementary schools, encouraging them to live healthy and exercise often. The team also partnered up with the Micron Foundation to help provide youth in after school programs with basketball-related questions to help them with mathematics.

"When my partners and I founded the Idaho Stampede, we had three objectives," said Stampede Managing Investor Bill Ilett. "Bring quality professional basketball to Southern Idaho, have fun and find a new way to give back to the citizens in the valley. We are honored to receive this award which demonstrates our success in accomplishing our third goal."

Since 1986, the Association of Fundraising Professionals has set aside a day to recognize and pay tribute to those people and organizations who have made great contributions to our lives, our communities and our world. This year on November 12, more than 125 communities and 50,000 people worldwide will participate in National Philanthropy Day events and celebrations.
