Hitmen Set to Begin 20th Annivesary Season

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen begin their 20th anniversary season in the Western Hockey League Saturday night when they welcome the Red Deer Rebels to the Scotiabank Saddledome in the Adrenalin Source for Sports Home Opener.

Game time is 7:00 p.m. and will include the on-ice debut of the 20th anniversary jersey that honours the team's inaugural season and pays tribute to the club's namesake and one of the original owners, Bret "Hitman" Hart. The limited edition throwback jersey includes two shoulder patches; one that features Bret Hart's famous words, `The Best There Is, The Best There Was, The Best There Ever Will Be', while the opposite shoulder is dressed with the historic Hitmen starburst logo.

With construction and events taking place on and around Stampede Park, fans are encouraged to arrive early to avoid delays. In addition, fans will want to be seated in advance of the special opening ceremony that will include an appearance from Bret Hart along with player and staff introductions.

Fans will also have a chance to buy a piece of franchise history on Saturday night as all 30 white game-worn jerseys from the 2013-14 Hitmen season will be sold. The silent auction will be held on the concourse by section 226. All bids will close when the puck drops at the start the third period. Each game-worn jersey is accompanied by a letter of authenticity.

Other home opener highlights will see plenty of in-game giveaways including the chance to win a Hockey Day in the 'Dome prize package. This grand prize includes lower bowl tickets, jerseys and dinner for two to the Battle of Alberta doubleheader weekend on Sat., Jan. 31 when the Hitmen host the Edmonton Oil Kings at 2:00 p.m. and the Flames host the Edmonton Oilers at 8:00 p.m.

Calgary Hitmen season tickets for the 20th anniversary season are available now at the Scotiabank Saddledome box office. In appreciation for the continued support the Hitmen receive from the community, the purchase or renewal of select 2014-15 season ticket packages will include a complimentary premium 20th anniversary jersey.
