Jen-Ho Tseng Named Cubs Minor League Pitcher of Year

GENEVA, Ill. - The Kane County Cougars, in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs, have announced that Cougars pitcher Jen-Ho Tseng has been named the Cubs' Minor League Pitcher of the Year. Tseng, along with Cubs' Minor League Player of the Year Kris Bryant, w ill be honored during an on-field ceremony prior to the Cubs 7:05 p.m. game this Wednesday, September 17, against the Cincinnati Reds at Wrigley Field.
Tseng, 19, went 6-1 with a 2.40 ERA (28 ER/105.0 IP) in 19 games (17 starts) with the Cougars, helping the club to a minor league-best 91 regular season wins and the Midwest League championship. He walked 15 batters and struck out 85, good for an average of just 1.3 walks and 7.3 strikeouts per 9.0 innings pitched. Tseng limited the opponent to a .204 batting average (76-for-373), a .241 on-base percentage and a .308 slugging percentage. Tseng was signed by the Cubs as a non-drafted free agent in July of last season.
The Cougars team, which won the Midwest League championship Saturday evening against Lake County, will be recognized before this evening's 7:05 p.m. game against Cincinnati.
