Bloomington Thunder News Release
Bloomington, IL - Thunder defenseman Matthew Nuttle announced through twitter Sunday evening that he has committed to play at Cornell University following his time in junior hockey.
Via Twitter: "Excited and proud to announce my commitment to Cornell University for next fall, thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way #BigRed."
Nuttle played for the NAHL's Wenatchee Wild in 2013-14. Through 60 games played, he totaled four goals, 27 assists, and 54 penalty minutes, including a league high 21 assists on the power play.
"(Cornell) is a really good school with a great history of hockey. Talking with the coaches, and my friend Alex Rauter who goes there, it seemed like the perfect fit," said Nuttle.
The East Aurora, NY native will be heading to Ithaca, NY to play for the Big Red in the fall of 2015. The school is located just two and a half hours away from his hometown, just south of Buffalo.
"It's a load off my back. It's been a long journey trying to commit to a college," said Nuttle. "Obviously need to keep working and focus on the team winning games."
Cornell's newest commit and the Thunder open the season on Saturday, September 27th at 7 pm vs the Sioux Falls Stampede. For tickets call the Thunder office at (309) 434-2980.
