Long Island Ducks News Release

(York, Penn., Sept. 14, 2014) - The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the York Revolution 6-4 on Sunday afternoon at Santander Stadium in the Ducks' final road game of the 2014 regular season.

The Ducks cracked the scoreboard in the second inning on Brandon Bantz's RBI double and Dan Lyons' two-out RBI single off Revolution starter Corey Thurman. York responded in the third with four runs off Ducks starter Bobby Blevins. A two-run double by Justin Greene and bases loaded walks to Chad Tracy and Johan Limonta did the damage.

Lyons brought Long Island to within a run in the fifth on a solo home run over the Arch Nemesis in left. However, two runs in the bottom of the frame on a sac fly to center by Travis Garcia and a RBI single by Omar Luna stretched their lead to 6-3. The Ducks rallied for a run in the ninth on Joash Brodin's RBI single, but they could not pull even.

Thurman (9-6) earned the win, tossing five innings, allowing three runs on six hits with no walks or strikeouts. Blevins (9-5) suffered the loss, surrendering six runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out five in four and one-third innings. Mark Hendrickson picked up his ninth save despite allowing a run on two hits and a walk in the ninth.

Lyons and Cody Puckett led the Flock with two hits apiece. Lyons drove in two runs while Puckett scored twice.

The Ducks return home on Tuesday, September 16 to begin a three-game set against the Lancaster Barnstormers. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35.
