Western New York Flash News Release

ELMA, N.Y. ( Friday, September 12, 2014 ) - Western New York Flash midfielders Vicky Losada and Sonia Bermudez have re-signed with FC Barcelona, while forward Adriana Martin has signed with Levante UD, the club announced today. All three Spain natives have returned to play in their home country and compete in the Spanish Primera Division.

Vicky and Sonia were both signed by the Flash from Barcelona at the beginning of the 2014 NWSL season. Vicky, 23, made a splash in her first appearance with WNY by scoring the first goal of the year on a long-range blast in Washington. Losada went on to score two goals and add an assist in the Flash's 3-1 win and was voted the NWSL Player of the Week by the media for Week 1 for the performance. After appearing in 23 games with 18 starts, Vicky finished her first season in the NWSL with three goals and six assists, a stat that was good for third-best in the league.

Sonia, 29, bookended the Flash season with two highlight reel goals that made ESPN's SportsCenter Top 10 plays. In her first appearance with WNY, Sonia sent a 25-yard shot off of a set piece into the upper 90 during the Flash's May 3 home opener against Portland Thorns FC. Then, in the club's home finale on August 13, Sonia scored on a 35-yard left footed shot to the top corner against Sky Blue FC. Bermudez finished the year with four goals and one assist in 21 appearances.

Adriana, a three-year member of the Flash, appeared in 19 games with 12 starts in 2014. The forward joined the Flash in 2012 when the team was a member of the WPSL-Elite and was later signed as a free agent at the start of 2013, the team's first season in the NWSL. In 1,195 minutes played this season, Adriana tallied three goals and four assists.

Seasons for both Spanish clubs are currently underway, with Barcelona next facing Valencia and Levante playing Sevilla FC on Sunday, September 21.

The Flash will retain the NWSL rights for all three players.
