Lucarelli Named 2014 Knights MVP

University of Portland senior shortstop Michael Lucarelli was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2014 Corvallis Knights on Thursday in a vote of the team's administrators and coaches.

Lucarelli led the West Coast League in games played (54) and led all shortstops with 162 assists. He hit .265 with three homers, 11 doubles, 35 runs scored and 13 stolen bases.

Linfield senior Chris Haddeland and Washington senior Brandon Choate shared Top Pitcher honors. Haddeland led the club in innings pitched (75) and went 4-4 with a 3.28 ERA. Choate had a team-high 10 saves and was 2-0 with a 1.01 ERA in 20 games, with 23 strikeouts in 26.2 innings.

Junior first baseman/outfielder Dalton Kelly of UC Santa Barbara was named the top pro prospect. He hit .336 with seven homers and 34 RBIs and earned first-team all-WCL honors.

UCSB senior outfielder Scott Quinlan earned the Joe Segel Hustle Award. He hit .280 with a homer, 16 RBIs and 18 stolen bases.
