Rapid City Rush News Release

(RAPID CITY, SD) - The Rapid City Rush is pleased to announce the arrival of new members to the Hockey Operations Staff. Joining the Rush organization are Cody Lindhorst of Traverse City, Michigan as the Athletic Trainer, and Dane Carlson of Rapid City, SD as Strength and Conditioning Coach.

"We're very excited to have two quality individuals joining our hockey operations staff for the upcoming season," said Head Coach and GM Joe Ferras. "Dane and Cody are young, enthusiastic and very bright individuals, and will be outstanding additions to our club."

"I am extremely excited to be a part of the Rush organization," said Lindhorst. "I've heard nothing but great things about the Rapid City community and the Rush team. This is my first job as a professional trainer, and I feel honored to be able to call Rapid City my first professional home."

Lindhorst, 24, comes from Traverse City, Michigan. He is a graduate of Central Michigan University, earning his degree in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training, and played as a goaltender on the Chippewas' Division I ACHA Club Hockey Team. Prior to his graduation, Lindhorst interned with the USHL's Muskegon Lumberjacks, and spent time observing training camp for the NHL's Detroit Redwings, local semi-professional football, and the NHL Prospects camp in his hometown of Traverse City. Cody takes over for Bobby Moore, who retired this offseason after 32 years as an athletic trainer, and 2 as the trainer for the Rush.

"On behalf of the Rapid City Rush, I want to thank Bobby Moore for all of his service he gave to our club over the last two seasons," stated Ferras. With regards to Lindhorst, Ferras added "Cody has extensive experience working with the NHL's Traverse City Prospects Camp, as well as NHL training camps. This is a great opportunity for Cody not only with the Rush but to be working with an outstanding medical staff in all capacities lead by Dr. Chris Dietrich, which will make for a smooth transition."

"I'm very excited to be working with the Rush. This is a great new chapter in my book," said Carlson. "I'm very privileged to help this team in any way I can. I hope to help prevent injuries and help them be the best athletes they can be."

Carlson, 26, is a native of Rapid City and has been a professional strength and conditioning coach for the last five years. Prior to becoming a conditioning coach, Carlson played as a 4-year starter at Middle Linebacker for Dakota Wesleyan University. At the conclusion of his collegiate career, he was asked by the Minnesota Vikings to attend the pro-day at SDSU, but the NFL Lockout ultimately dashed his pro football aspirations. Shortly after, Carlson served as the Outside Linebackers Coach and Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the South Dakota School of Mines Hardrockers football team. He is the owner and head trainer of Winning Edge Academy, a position he has held for the last year. Dane takes over for Scott Benson, who served with the Rush since the inaugural season as the Strength and Conditioning Coach.

"Dane comes from a highly qualified background as a Strength and Conditioning Coach, and will be a tremendous asset to our athletes and organization," added Ferras on Carlson. "He is a dedicated young man and is similar in age to the members of our hockey club, and can relate to these athletes. Dane was a gifted college football player with NFL aspirations, and understands what it takes to be mentally and physically prepared, as well as the important role that conditioning plays to be an elite professional athlete."
