Prince George Cougars News Release

Prince George, B.C. - The Prince George Cougars are pleased to announce the hiring of Craig Hyslop (Prince George, B.C.) as an Athletic Therapist.

Hyslop, who's 28-years-old, joins the Cougars after spending the last two years with CBI, a local health services centre. He graduated from the University of Manitoba with a BKIN-Athletic Therapy degree in the spring of 2012. He then became certified within the Canadian Athletic Therapy Association in June, 2012.

"I'm thrilled to be back in the world of trauma care and aggressive rehab," said Hyslop. "Working with high-level athletes is a passion of mine and the reason why I started in this line of work. Since I've joined the Prince George Cougars I've had full support from ownership to do my job to the best of my abilities and the returning players have already noticed the positive changes."

Hyslop adds, "It's a perfect time to be starting in the WHL because of all of the exciting changes that are happening with the Prince George Cougars. The new ownership and the coaching staff are fully dedicated to the proper development of players and providing the necessary resources that they'll need to succeed. Injuries are inevitable at this level of competition and proper injury management is key for a rapid return to play."

"He's young and passionate about what he does. He cares deeply about the players and their well-being and we really like what he's able to bring to the team," said Prince George Cougars General Manager, Todd Harkins.

Hyslop's hiring also gives the Cougars the ability to provide better one-on-one care for their players in terms of their equipment and their health.

Harkins adds, "The player's will be treated properly and professionally by having one person (Chico Dhanjal) take care of their equipment, while Craig Hyslop will take care of their health and well-being."

Last season, Hyslop worked with the Cariboo Cougars in a clinical setting, assessing and treating acute injuries with a focus on speeding up the recovery process and getting the players back into the lineup as soon as possible.

The Prince George Cougars are thrilled to welcome Craig to the New Ice Age.
