Rio Grande Valley Vipers Announce 2014-15 Schedule

MCALLEN, Texas, Sept. 9, 2014 - The NBA Development League Rio Grande Valley Vipers today announced the 2014-15 schedule. This year's schedule features a total of 50 games, including 24 home games at State Farm Arena, 24 games on the road and two games at the NBA D-League Showcase Jan. 15-19. The complete 2014-15 schedule can be found below.
RGV will open the season at home when the Vipers host the Austin Toros in back-to-back games on Nov. 14 and 15. Then, the Vipers will travel to the west coast to play consecutive games at Bakersfield (Nov. 18) and Los Angeles (Nov. 19). On Dec. 12 the Vipers will travel east to face the New York Knicks' new single - affiliate Westchester Knicks for the first time. RGV will travel to Sioux Falls on Dec. 25 to play for the Skyforce's annual Christmas Day game. The defending champion Fort Wayne Mad Ants will visit the RGV Jan. 23 and 24.
"The Vipers are excited to announce the schedule for our eighth season in the Rio Grande Valley. Last season's team broke numerous records with its fast-paced style of play and we look forward to once again offering the community great entertainment," Vipers president Bert Garcia said.
"The release of the 2014-15 schedule is a great day for the Vipers organization. We are excited to get back to McAllen for another season. We will work hard to give ourselves the best chance to make another deep run in the playoffs, and to bring a third championship to the RGV," head coach Nevada Smith said.
This season's home schedule will also feature themed games honoring the local community. On Dec. 18, the Vipers will host an 11 a.m. Kid's Day Game versus Delaware. The annual Kid's Day Game rewards students through the team's Perfect Attendance and Honor Roll programs. The Vipers will also host the Fifth Annual All-Valley Showcase, presented by AT&T, the afternoon of April 4. Top RGV high school boys and girls will compete east against the west prior to the Vipers final regular-season home game versus Los Angeles.
"Including community-themed games is an important part of our schedule. The Vipers organization is proud to honor the community that supports us through special game nights and group outings. We look forward to announcing more community initiatives throughout the season," Garcia said.
