Comets Announce 2014-2015 Schedule
September 9, 2014 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Kansas City Comets News Release
PRAIRIE VILLAGE, KS (September 9, 2014) - The Major Arena Soccer League released the full 2014-2015 schedule today, and as previously announced, the Comets will kick off the brand new 24-team super league on the road in Allen, TX against the Dallas Sidekicks on Saturday, October 25th. The 2014 MISL Champion Comets will play ten regular season games at the Independence Events Center, starting with a rematch against last season's playoff semi-finals opponent, the Milwaukee Wave on November 15th at 7:05pm. The Comets defeated the Wave to advance the Championship Series, where they disposed of the Baltimore Blast for the team's first ever title.
The home schedule features visits from past foes like the Harrisburg Heat and San Diego Sockers, while other new IEC guests include Seattle, Chicago, Wichita and Tulsa. The road schedule is highlighted by a weekend trip to Mexico in late January against Saltillo Rancho Seco and the Monterrey Flash.
"Our fans, who are the best indoor soccer fans anywhere, are really going to enjoy having these new teams come to the IEC," said Comets Head Coach Vlatko Andonovski. "We're also excited for these teams to come here and feel the energy and excitement that fills the Events Center when we play at home, which gives us such an incredible advantage."
Another unique part of the schedule has the MISL Champions facing off against the PASL (Professional Arena Soccer League) Champions Chicago Mustangs three times this season, with the PASL Champs visiting the IEC on two of those occasions. This past April, the MISL and PASL merged to form the current, new 24-team MASL.
Comets Indoor Soccer: The Comets are the reigning 2014 Major Indoor Soccer League Champions. The Comets returned to action in 2010 and play at the Independence Events Center in Independence, MO.
