Cornish Honoured Again

September 9, 2014 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Calgary Stampeders News Release

For a second consecutive week, Calgary Stampeders running back Jon Cornish is the CFL's Canadian player of the week.

Cornish earned his latest Canadian player of the week award - the 23rd of his career - for his performance in Saturday's Labour Day Rematch against the Edmonton Eskimos at Commonwealth Stadium. The CFL's reigning Most Outstanding Player carried the ball 17 times for 109 yards and a touchdown in the Stamps' 41-34 victory.

The touchdown came in the fourth quarter and proved to be the winning points as the Stamps improved to 9-1. Cornish also had two catches for seven yards in the contest.

It was the fourth game in a row against the Eskimos he has cracked the 100-yard plateau. Cornish has made six career starts at Commonwealth Stadium and earned the Canadian player-of-the-week award on each occasion.

Despite missing six full games and part of a seventh this season because of injury, Cornish ranks seventh in the CFL with 413 rushing yards in 2014.
