Western New York Flash News Release

ELMA, N.Y. ( Monday, September 8, 2014 ) - Western New York Flash veterans Angela Salem and Katherine Reynolds have been loaned to the Newcastle Jets of the Australian W-League, the club announced today.

Salem, 26, returns to Newcastle after previously playing for the club during the 2012-13 W-League season. In 2014, her third season with the Flash organization, Salem appeared in 23 games totaling 1,858 minutes. In 22 starts, the Akron, Ohio native totaled 10 shots while playing primarily at the holding midfield position.

Reynolds, who also wrapped up her third season with Western New York, will feature in Australia for the first time in her career. After starting in the first 19 games of the year for the Flash, the defender suffered a season-ending ankle injury that kept her out the final five games of the 2014 campaign.

Salem, Reynolds and the Jet will face their first test of the season on Saturday, hosting defending W-League Champion Melbourne Victory at 9 p.m. local time (7 a.m. ET).

Salem and Reynolds will both return to Western New York before the start of the 2015 NWSL season.
