Everett Silvertips News Release

KENNEWICK - An eight-goal outburst behind points from 13 different players led the Everett Silvertips to a dominant 8-2 decision over the Kootenay Ice Saturday at the Toyota Center. After winning both of their appearances in the Red Lion Hotels Pre-Season Tournament hosted by the Tri-City Americans, the 'Tips preseason record stands at 3-2 going into next weekend's home-and-home exhibition set against Seattle.

Leading the way for Everett with a goal and an assist each were Kohl Bauml, Brayden Low, Nik Malenica and Tyler Sandhu. Noah Juulsen and Ivan Nikolishin also had multi-point outings with two assists apiece. Remi Laurencelle's team-leading third goal started things off for the Silvertips as eight different players scored goals. Austin Lotz started in goal and stopped all 11 shots he faced in just less than 30 minutes, with Mario Petit coming in to stop five of the last seven Kootenay shots.

Everett's offense woke up early on this Saturday morning as Remi Laurencelle scored unassisted on the game's first shift. Chris Stockl then followed at the 4:44 mark and Kohl Bauml put in a powerplay goal 32 seconds later to spot the Silvertips an early 3-0 lead. Tyler Sandhu netted a fourth score later in the period as the 'Tips carried a 4-0 lead into the intermission.

Each team had a powerplay early in the second period, but it wasn't until just after Everett's mid-period goalie switch that Kootenay scored the game's next goal on a still-cold Mario Petit. Logan Aasman helped Everett re-establish the four-goal lead just two minutes later before Nik Malenica's first preseason goal made it 6-1 Silvertips. The Ice scored their second goal with 11 seconds left in the period to make it 6-2 'Tips after two.

Brayden Low notched Everett's seventh goal early in the third and Graham Millar increased the lead to 8-2 at the 7:12 mark. The Silvertips played out the rest of the period with the scored remaining unchanged; outshooting Kootenay 31-18 in total. Jayden Sittler made 23 saves in defeat while playing the entire game for Kootenay. The 'Tips were 1 for 3 on the powerplay, while the Ice finished 0 for 3.

Everett will finish the exhibition schedule with a home-and-home series against the Thunderbirds next weekend. The 'Tips host their rivals at 7:35 pm Friday at Comcast Arena and travel to the ShoWare Center in Kent on Saturday to conclude the preseason.
