Revs Fall Victim As Bluefish Snap Epic Streak

The York Revolution fell victim as the Bridgeport Bluefish snapped their 14-game losing streak, defeating the Revs 11-4 on Wednesday night at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. With the series even at one win apiece, the Revs will go for the series victory on Thursday evening.

After falling behind early, the Revs battled back to tie the game, before the Bluefish ran away with it late.

York plated the game's first run, scoring in the top of the first inning as Sean Smith doubled to left-center with one out and scored on a fielding error by second baseman Ramon Castro.

Bridgeport scored four times in the bottom of the first inning, using five hits to jump in front. Prentice Redman and Castro ripped RBI doubles, and Luis Lopez blooped a two-run single to center, handing Bridgeport a 4-1 advantage.

Revs starter Corey Thurman did not allow another run, rebounding to work six innings while his teammates fought back.

York scored a run in the top of the fifth inning to start the comeback as Angel Flores, who doubled earlier in the inning, scored on a throwing error by Bluefish pitcher Kyle McMillen.

The Revs scored twice more in the sixth to tie it. Chad Tracy led off with a single to left, and Johan Limonta followed with an RBI triple to right-center. Travis Garcia then lined a sacrifice fly to center field, tying the score at 4-4. It was Garcia's 11th RBI in his last nine games played.

Bridgeport took control an inning later, however, scoring three times on five hits against reliever Greg Miller (1-9). Sean Burroughs drove in the go-ahead run with a single to left, and Castro later singled home two more on a base hit to right.

The Bluefish then put the game out of reach with their second four-run rally of the game in the bottom of the eighth. James Simmons was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in the first run, before Burroughs ripped an RBI single past a drawn-in infield, and Redman served a two-run single into right-center.

Burroughs and Redman each went 4-for-5 to lead a 17-hit attack for the Bluefish. Redman and Castro (3-for-4) led the hosts with three RBI apiece.

Bridgeport's bullpen held the Revs without a hit over the final three innings, with Boof Bonser (1-0) picking up the win after a scoreless seventh.
