Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - 2B Ryan Brett and OF Taylor Motter have been selected as Post-Season All-Stars while Kris Russell and Will Bowman have been selected as Trainer of the Year and Visiting Clubhouse Attendant of the Year respectively, the Southern League announced Friday afternoon.

Motter has had his breakout season with the Biscuits. A career .277 hitter coming into 2014, Motter jumped onto the scene with a .319 average in the first half. His performance earned a selection to the Southern League All-Star Team where he was selected as the Star of Stars after hitting a home run. The former-17th round pick out of Coastal Carolina will finish the year with career-highs in both home runs and RBI. Motter's offense has not been the only impressive part of his game. While serving as a utility player, the Biscuits have mostly used Motter in right field where he is one assist shy of matching a 48-year old, Southern League record of 25 as of Friday morning.

Brett has paced the Biscuits' offense since April leading the team in average, hits, runs scored and stolen bases. The former-3rd round pick out of Highline High School in Washington is a top-ten prospect in the Rays system. After hitting .238 in 25 games with the Biscuits last year, Brett's average has hovered around .300 the entire season. Brett also owns the longest hit streak of the season for the Biscuits (12 games) while boasting three different hit streaks of at least ten games. Brett is in his fifth season with the Rays.

Russell is in his third season with the Biscuits and eighth season as a part of the Rays organization. The St. Peterusburg native graduated from the University of South Florida where he worked with the football, basketball, baseball and men's soccer teams before starting his career in professional baseball in 2004. Russell is now entered into a pool of eighteen league winners to be considered for the Minor League Athletic Trainer of the Year Award.

Bowman has now won Visiting Clubhouse Attendant of the Year in back-to-back seasons, but his 2014 award comes after even more incredible work at Riverwalk Stadium. For the last two months of the seaon, Bowman not only attended to the visiting clubhouse, but he also worked as the home clubhouse attendant. On some occasions, Bowman worked both clubhouses without an assistant.
