New York Boulders News Release

(POMONA, N.Y.) - Rockland Boulders rookie pitcher Joe Donino was named the Can-Am League Pitcher of the Week for the final week of the regular season it was announced on Tuesday. The righty becomes the eighth different Boulder to earn a weekly honor, and just the third pitcher.

Donino was instrumental in Rockland push for the pennant, winning both his starts in the final week. The rookie tossed a combined 11 shutout innings, giving up just six total hits against both Trois-Rivieres and New Jersey. His 10 total strikeouts were third most in Can-Am during that stretch.

On August 27, the Avon, Conn. native pitched five shutout frames at Trois-Rivieres while striking out four batters in a 4-1 victory. Donino, a Columbia University graduate, followed that up with a stellar performance against New Jersey. He tossed six scoreless innings, giving up one hit, and striking out six in a 3-0 win. That victory helped Rockland earn a tie atop the league standings before ultimately capturing the pennant on Monday.

Rockland now turns its sights on the Can-Am League Championship Series where they will meet the New Jersey Jackals. The best-of-seven series begins on Wednesday, September 3 at Yogi Berra Stadium. New Jersey will host games 1, 2, 6, and 7 (if necessary), while the Boulders will host Games 3, 4, and 5 (if necessary) on Friday, September 5, Saturday, September 6, and Sunday September 7 at Provident Bank Park.

Individual game tickets as well as the Boulders "Championship Pass" are currently on sale. Fans can reserve their seats for the postseason by visiting the Provident Bank Park box office, calling (845) 364-0009 or online at www.RocklandBoulders.com.
