Tri-City Dust Devils News Release

The Tri-City Dust Devils closed out the 2014 Northwest League season with a 5-4 walk-off win over the Everett AquaSox in front of 2,572 enthusiastic fans Monday night at Gesa Stadium. Richard Prigatano scored the winning run for Tri-City (19-19 Second Half, 33-43 Overall).

Prigatano was a pinch runner for catcher Jairo Rosario after Rosario legged out an infield single in the final inning. He scored when AquaSox (17-21 Second Half, 28-48 Overall) catcher overthrew third baseman Chris Mariscal on a stolen base by Prigatano.

Third baseman Shane Hoelscher hit a first inning RBI single for the Dust Devils before leaving the game. The hit left Hoelscher in sole possession of the fourth-best batting average in a season for Tri-City, hitting .332. Hoelscher also tied Seth Spivey of the Spokane Indians for the second highest batting average in the Northwest League this season.

Tri-City starter Logan Norris allowed just one hit in three scoreless innings. Norris walked a pair of batters and struck out two on the night.

Relief pitcher Dylan Stamey (2-0) earned his second win of the season Monday night. Stamey allowed a hit, but kept Everett off the board in the ninth inning. Stamey struck out a batter in his inning of work.

Starting pitcher Luiz Gohara struck out eight batters for the AquaSox. Gohara pitched 3 2/3 innings and allowed two runs, one of them earned, on five hits and two walks. Reliever Kody Kerski (4-3) took the loss for the AquaSox. Kerski putched 1 1/3 innings, allowing two runs, none earned on two hits with one strikeout.

Second baseman Andy Peterson went 2-for-4 for Everett and had a pair of RBIs, a run scored and a double. Right fielder Corey Simpson drove in a run and went 2-for-5 on the night. Everett committed five errors in the loss, including one that led to the winning Dust Devils run.
