GreenJackets Finish Season on a High Note

Augusta, GA--The Augusta GreenJackets (62-76) finished their 2014 season with a win against the Charleston RiverDogs (71-69) on Monday afternoon at Lake Olmstead Stadium. The final score was 2-0.

Augusta scored their first run in the second inning on a solo home run by Jeremy Sy. His thirteenth home run of the season came off a 0-0 pitch by RiverDogs starting pitcher Gabe Encinas. The team's final run came on an RBI double by Craig Massoni in the bottom of the third inning.

Augusta's starting pitcher, Luis Ysla, pitched three scoreless innings today. In those innings he allowed one hit and struck out four. Ysla finished the season 6-7 with an ERA of 2.45. His ERA puts him past Greensboro Grasshoppers pitcher, Domingo German, to earn the SAL ERA title.

GreenJackets starting pitcher, Carlos Diaz (6-6), earned the win Monday afternoon. In four innings pitched, Diaz did not allow a hit and struck out four. Michael Connolly received the hold for the GreenJackets and Nick Jones earned the save. Charleston's starting pitcher, Gabe Encinas (0-4), took the loss. In three and two-thirds innings pitched, Encinas gave up five hits, two earned runs including Sy's solo home run.
