'Wolves Sweep Ducks, Finish at .500

The SeaWolves ended the 2014 season with a 4-2 win over the Akron RubberDucks on Monday afternoon at Canal Park. With the win, the "˜Wolves finished the season at the .500 at 71-71.

Erie jumped ahead in the first inning against Akron starter Cole Sulser . Jamie Johnson and Dixon Machado each singled to start the game. Dean Green singled home Johnson for a 1-0 lead. With Machado on third, Corey Jones laid down a squeeze bunt, plating Machado for a 2-0 lead.

Akron got one back in the bottom of the first against Erie starter Warwick Saupold . With two outs, Erik Gonzalez singled, stole second, reached third on an error and scored on a wild pitch making it 2-1.

The Ducks tied the game in the last of the fifth. Jordan Smith led off with a double and scored on a two-out Ollie Linton double.

Erie quickly regained the lead in the top of the sixth. Jason Krizan led off with a single and Dean Green followed with a two-run home right to straight away center for a 4-2 lead. The home run for Green was his 10th and second of the series.

Saupold (8-11) earned the win allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits with three walks and five strikeouts in six innings of work.

Jose Valdez worked a scoreless ninth earning his 18th save.
