Today's Game: The RedHawks close out the 2014 season at 12:05 p.m. against the Iowa Cubs at Principal Park. After the RedHawks lost yesterday afternoon, the Omaha Storm Chasers clinched the American Northern Division last night with a win over Colorado Springs.

Last Game: Iowa overcame two sizable deficits and scored six times in the eighth inning to send the RedHawks to a stunning 11-8 defeat Sunday afternoon at Principal Park. The I-Cubs trailed 8-5 entering the bottom of the eighth inning, but rallied to score six times. After pulling within 8-7, Ryan Kalish hit a go-ahead three-run homer. Each of the next three batters reached safely as well, and Jonathan Mota capped the big inning with a RBI single to make it 11-8. The RedHawks had already let a four-run lead slip away earlier in the game. After they opened the top of third inning with four runs, the I-Cubs put up a four-spot of their own in the bottom of the inning. The RedHawks regained the lead in the fourth when Joe Sclafani connected on a solo homer, and Ruben Sosa belted a two-run shot in the fifth for a 7-4 lead. Iowa trimmed the lead back to two in the sixth before Sclafani pushed the lead to 8-5 in the eighth with a triple.

Today's Probable Pitcher: Alex White (3-5) looks his fifth quality start in six appearances...White did not figure in the decision in his previous start on Aug. 26 against Albuquerque. He lasted just 3.1 innings and allowed four runs (three earned) and five hits. He issued a season-high five walks (including four in one inning) and struck out three...Prior to his most recent start, White made four consecutive quality starts, posting a 3.51 ERA with opponents batting just .200. He notched 27 strikeouts against six walks over 25.2 IP and did not allow a run after the second inning in any of those outings...He just completed his best month of the season, holding opponents to a .218 average and racking up 30 strikeouts in 29.0 IP...The RedHawks have won in four of his last five starts, including each of the last three...White continues to rebound after missing all of the 2013 season following Tommy John surgery...Today will be his second start and third appearance of the season against Iowa. He is 0-2 against the I-Cubs this season, allowing three runs and nine hits over 8.2 IP.

Against the I-Cubs : 2014: 6-9 2013: 8-8 All-time: 112-124 In IOW: 50-68

With yesterday's win, Iowa will win the season series for the first time since 2010 and just the second time in the last six seasons... Iowa has won five straight games, including a pair of shutouts...The RedHawks and I-Cubs last met Aug. 7-11 in OKC. Iowa won the series, 3-2, marking the I-Cubs' first series victory in Oklahoma City since the 2010 season...Iowa has hit 19 homers over the teams' 15 meetings...There have been four games in which a team won after trailing in the seventh inning or later (Each has done it twice)...The RedHawks finished 2-6 in Des Moines last season and are 14-29 at Principal Park since the start of the 2009 season.

Trouble at the Principal's Office: The RedHawks are 2-5 at Principal Park this season, but in three of those losses they've had a lead of at least three runs, including two games in which they held at least a four-run lead. Outside of games in Iowa, the RedHawks have lost just twice all season in games in which they led by at least three runs and just once in games they led by at least four runs.

Standings Roller Coaster: After losing to Iowa at home on Aug. 11, the RedHawks were four games out of first place. The RedHawks entered their final homestand of the season on Aug. 20 two back out of first. They finished the homestand with a two-game lead in first place, but after losing the first three games of the current series, they will not head to the postseason. In addition to winning a division title last year, this is the second time in three seasons the RedHawks were eliminated from playoff contention on the second-to-last day of the season.

Streaking Sclafani: Joe Sclafani went 3-for-5 Sunday, extending his on-base streak to 44 consecutive games. It's the longest streak in the PCL since 2012, when Reno's Jake Elmore reached base in 46 straight games. During the streak, Sclafani is batting .357 with a .444 on-base percentage...Sclafani has hit safely in 28 of his last 32 games, batting .389 (46x120) with 20 RBI and 26 runs.

RISPy Business: The RedHawks went 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position Sunday, and over their last four games, they are batting just .170 (8x47) with runners in scoring position. Through the first three games of the current series, the RedHawks are 6-for-35, including 1-for-18 with no RBI when there are two outs. They have left 31 runners on base, including 20 in scoring position.

Monthly Matters: Although it ended with three losses, the RedHawks had their most successful month of the season in August, going 18-11. They led the Minors with a .311 batting average and scored 177 runs, marking their highest-scoring month since plating 181 runs in July 2012...They also led the PCL with a 3.67 ERA.

Nip and Tuck: Preston Tucker is currently on a season-best 10-game hitting streak, batting .371 (13x35) with eight RBI. He finished with 30 RBI in August, marking the highest RBI total by a RedHawk in a single month since Nate Gold collected 32 in August 2007.

Santo Domingo: Over the last 10 games, Domingo Santana is 13-for-31 with 15 RBI. He ranks fifth in the league in walks (64) and sixth in on-base percentage (.387). His 81 RBI rank 10th in the PCL, and it's the highest total by a RedHawk since 2008.

Opposite Day: Before allowing 11 runs (nine earned) yesterday, the RedHawks had posted a 2.58 ERA over their previous 18 games. They had allowed more than five runs just twice during the 18-game stretch. Yesterday marked just the third time this year the RedHawks allowed as many as 11 runs in a game, and the first time it's happened on the road. Iowa's 17 hits were the most by a RedHawks opponent since Tacoma also collected 17 hits on June 23 (10 innings). The RedHawks also lost that game after leading by four runs at one point.

Record Setter: Ronny Torreyes' sacrifice bunt in the third inning yesterday was a historic one. Torreyes now has 21 sac bunts this season, establishing a new single-season PCL record in the modern era. Alex Cintron (Tucson) had owned the record with 20 in 2001.

From 1 to 144: The RedHawks had 168 roster transactions this season. The following five players stayed on the RedHawks roster all season: Carlos Perez, Max Stassi, Jason Stoffel, Ronny Torreyes, and Nick Tropeano.

That's All Folks: The RedHawks have won four of the past five season finales, including three straight one-run victories.
