Rain Postpones Renegades and IronBirds

Hudson Valley Renegades News Release

Aberdeen, Maryland (8/31/2014)- The Hudson Valley Renegades and Aberdeen IronBirds had their game suspended in the bottom of the fifth inning on Sunday, with Aberdeen leading 3-1. The contest was originally slated for a 5:35 first pitch, but was postponed for over three hours after heavy rain came down on Cal Ripken Stadium. With Tri-City and State College both winning tonight, the game serves a lot of significance in the overall outcome of the season. Three of the four playoff spots have already been solidified, but it is uncertain as to which teams get what seed.

The IronBirds struck first with a run in the bottom of the first inning, and the Renegades answered back with one of their own in the top of the second. Wilmer Dominguez lined a triple down the right-field line to score Grant Kay for the team's first run of the night. Aberdeen scored two more in the top of the third, as nobody else would score again after that point.

Oscar Armenta went four innings with three runs and an impressive five strikeouts in the outing. He remained on the hill when the rain began to come down and never threw a pitch in the fifth inning.

It is still unclear on whether or not the two teams will continue their game on Monday, as it is currently being reviewed by the league. For news and more information, follow the Renegades on twitter @HVRenegades, or visit the team website at HVRenegades.com.
