Sugar Land Takes Game 3 with 7-6 Victory

(Bridgeport, C.T., August 31, 2014) - The Sugar Land Skeeters continue their win streak with a 7-6 victory over the Bridgeport Bluefish on Sunday afternoon. The Skeeters now stand at a 30-21 record for the second half and remain a half game above the Barnstormers in the Freedom Division.

Matt Wright started on the mound and pitched 6.0 innings, allowing four runs and issuing five strikeouts. Wright collected his 11th win in the game, a personal best for the right-hander.

Chase Lambin and Dominic Ramos put the Skeeters on the board in the top of the second, as both were able to make it home during the inning. Lambin and Ramos added two more runs for the team in the top of the third, bringing the score up to 4-2.

Denny Almonte made his first appearance with Sugar Land and started off the top of the fourth with a single. Almonte then stole second and scored on a double by Delwyn Young. Young was able to score the second run of the inning after a walk by Travis Scott and Todd Jennings and hit by Lambin.

Lambin scored the Skeeters final run of the game with a solo home run in the top of the ninth, helping maintain the team's lead to finish the game on top.

The bullpen took over for Wright in the seventh and allowed two runs over the next three innings. Gary Majewski earned the save for the second game in a row, the righty's 24th this season.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN:

Sugar Land takes on Bridgeport in the series finale on Labor Day at 12:05 p.m. CT. David Pauley (10-6, 2.44 ERA) takes the mound opposite Bluefish pitcher Tomo Ohka (6-10, 4.92) in the game at Harbor Yard.
