Prince George Cougars News Release
Prince George, B.C. - The Prince George Cougars have signed 1996-born forward Colby McAuley (Sherwood Park, AB) to a standard WHL Contract.
Last season, McAuley played with the Sherwood Park Kings of the Alberta Midget Hockey League. In 33 games, McAuley scored 13 goals and added 16 assists and 64 penalty minutes.
"This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to join such a promising organization," said Colby McAuley, who had previously been listed by the Medicine Hat Tigers. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to be invited to training camp, and I'm looking forward to helping this team win games any way I can."
"Colby came into our training camp as an unknown and instantly impressed us with his speed, skill and grit," said Prince George Cougars General Manager, Todd Harkins. "He's a character kid who is getting better with each passing day. I give all of the credit to Director of Scouting, Bob Simmonds for pursuing Colby in the offseason and convincing him to attend our training camp."
McAuley made his Prince George Cougars debut yesterday in St. Albert. He is one of 18 remaining forwards in camp who are gunning for a roster spot in 2014-15.
