Rochester Red Wings News Release
- THE ROCHESTER RED WINGS were shutout in their regular season home finale 3-0 by the Buffalo Bisons on Saturday night at Frontier Field. Brad Mills tossed 7.0 shutout frames before Brandon Morrow and former Wing Bobby Korecky worked a scoreless 8th and 9th. Saturday marked the 13th time this season that Rochester has been shutout. The Wings finished their home slate at 45-27 -- the best home record in the IL in 2014. With a final crowd of 11,198 Saturday, the Wings drew a total of 422,454 fans over 66 openings (6 postponements) -- the best attendance since the 2011 season.
- PLAYOFF SCENARIO: In order for the Wings to make a second consecutive trip to the postseason, they will need to sweep Pawtucket (Sunday and Monday) AND have Buffalo lose one of their two games against Syracuse.
- ALEX MEYER was pulled after allowing an RBI double to Matt Hague with 0 outs in the 2nd inning. He allowed 3 runs (2 ER) on 2 hits and a walk. It was Meyer's shortest outing since April 12, 2012 with single-A Hagerstown (0.2 IP) -- his 2nd pro start. Saturday also marked the first time in his pro career (68 starts) that he didn't record a strikeout.
- MARK HAMBURGER kept the Wings in the game tossing 7.0 shutout innings of relief behind Meyer. The 7.0 innings tie a career-high for Hamburger set July 22 in a start at DUR. Hamburger allowed just 4 base runners (BB, HBP, 2 1B) while striking out six. The 7.0 innings of relief is the most by a Wings pitcher this season.
- ERIC FARRIS was the lone Red Wing to collect multiple hits Saturday as he went 2-for-3 with a walk and a pair of singles. Farris has a hit in 11 of his last 14 games, batting .391 (18-for-46) with 4 XBH and 5 RBI...Farris has a team-leading 43 multi-hit efforts this season.
- CHRIS COLABELLO picked up the only extra-base hit for the Wings with a leadoff double in the 7th -- the Wings 296th two-bagger of the season. The Wings will need four more doubles to reach 300 for just the 4th time in franchise history. Colabello (1-for-4) extended his hit streak to 6 games (.381; 8-for-21) and now has a base knock in 11 of his last 13 games, batting .349 (15-for-43).
- RISP: The Wings went just 0-for-6 with RISP -- the 10th time in the last 17 games that Rochester has collected one or fewer hits with RISP. Over that span, the Red Wings are batting .174 (23-for-132) in those situations.
