Minnesota United FC News Release

Minneapolis, Minn. (Friday, August 29th, 2014) -- Minnesota United (5W-2T-0L, 17pts) puts its eleven-game winning streak to the test this Sunday as it faces FC Edmonton (3W-2T-3L, 11pts) at Clarke Stadium in Edmonton, AB. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. CDT. Watch all the action live on NASLLive.com

Edmonton began the Fall Season with two losses and a draw, near the bottom of the table. However, since early August, the Eddies have moved into serious contention for the fourth postseason spot, just four points behind the Carolina RailHawks. The only NASL team that has been better through the month of August - Minnesota United.

"I think this Edmonton is a different team than we've played before, even a couple of weeks ago, in particular at the beginning of the year," said Minnesota United Head Coach Manny Lagos. "We've done some stuff to continue to get better and change the team and I think they've really progressed into the kind of team that they are right now. They're on a really good run. The biggest thing is we know it's going to be a challenge for us up there, with the way they're playing and an away game for us."

Last weekend, Minnesota United managed to secure a single point against the New York Cosmos in New York. This is a positive result for United, considering it is the first point the team has secured against the Cosmos since the Cosmos joined the League.

The United attack is a force to be reckoned with. As a team, United has scored four more goals than any other team in the League, with 32. From Justin Davis and Kevin Venegas in the back, to Christian Ramirez and Daniel Mendes up front, all 11 Minnesota players are capable of putting the ball in the back of the net. As a unit, the team will not settle for anything less than a League Title this November. The road to the postseason continues with three points in Edmonton this Sunday.

United, having already clinched a home match in the NASL four-team postseason tournament - The Championship - is currently in first place in the NASL combined table. United sits in second in the NASL Fall standings, two points back of San Antonion with a game in hand.
