Fresno Grizzlies News Release

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Grizzlies (66-74) climbed back from a four-run deficit to edge the Tacoma Rainiers (72-68) with a walk-off 6-5 victory Thursday night at Chukchansi Park in front of 7,983 fans. With the bases loaded and two out, Adam Duvall laced a liner through the hole at shortstop to plate the winning run and help snap Fresno's five-game losing streak. The walk-off win was the third by Fresno this year.

Fresno's offense stumbled through the first seven innings as they collected only one run on three hits and stared up at a four-run deficit on the scoreboard.

Starter Jason Berken (ND; 2 ER/6.0 IP) danced around trouble in a few frames to keep the club within a run, but relievers Brett Bochy (2 ER/2.0 IP) and Andrew Carignan (1 ER/1.2 IP) let Tacoma slinker to a 5-1 lead heading into the bottom of the eighth. Corey Hart (2-4, RBI), Justin Smoak (2-3, 2 RBI) and Ji-Man Choi (3-5, 3B, HR, RBI) combined to do the damage for the Rainiers.

Tacoma reliever Trevor Miller (BS, 1) worked into his second inning in the bottom of the eighth, but couldn't continue his scoreless work from the seventh. Adam Duvall knocked in his first RBI of the game with a double down the left-field line and Brandon Hicks followed one batter later with a game-tying three-run homer on the first pitch he saw to knot things at 5-5.

The Grizzlies didn't let the game linger into extras as Guillermo Quiroz and Gary Brown hit back-to-back one-out singles in the ninth, while Mark Minicozzi drew a two-out walk to load the bases. The pressure on right-hander Carson Smith (L, 1 ER/1.0 IP) was just too much as Adam Duvall lined the game-winning hit in between shortstop and third.

Fresno sends lefty Kelvin Marte (1-2, 5.34)) to face Tacoma right-hander Forrest Snow (2-3, 3.27) tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. PT. Fans can enjoy postgame fireworks (presented by PG&E) from the field in a show that will light up the Downtown Fresno sky.

The 5-4-3-2-1 specialty ticket deal rounds out the homestand, allowing fans to purchase Super View tickets for $3 on Saturday, $2 on Sunday, and only $1 on Monday. The ticket deal is only available at the Chukchansi Park Box Office, which opens Monday through Friday at 9:00 a.m., Saturday at 10:00 a.m., and Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
