Renegades Clinch McNamara Division Title

Wappingers Falls, NY "" The Hudson Valley Renegades (46-26) defeated the Connecticut Tigers (38-34) by the final score of 5-3 Thursday night at Duchess Stadium. The Renegades were led by their offensive production at the plate. Of their 11 hits in the game, six of them were for extra base hits. 3B Coty Blanchard (2-4) led the way with a two extra base hit performance. Blanchard had a double and a triple along with an RBI in the win as the Renegades clinched the McNamara division title.

RHP AJ Ladwig (0-5) suffered his fifth loss of the season. Ladwig was roughed up over his two innings of work Thursday night as he allowed three runs on four hits. Ladwig gave up all three runs in the first inning. The Renegades had three extra base hits in the first inning alone. RHP Confesor Lara did a good job keeping the Tigers in the game as he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up two runs on five hits and struck out three batters.

The Tigers did not provide much offensive support for their pitchers tonight. 2B Brett Pirtle (3-4) provided three of the teams eight hits and chipped in with an RBI. Pirtle fell a homerun shy of the cycle. CF Derek Hill (1-4) put theTigers on the scoreboard in the top of the third inning with an RBI single. Connecticut though left key opportunities go by them in the loss. As a team they were 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left six on base.

In game two of the series, Tigers RHP Spencer Turnbull (0-2, 3.91) is slated to face Renegades RHP Nolan Gannon (6-2, 2.77). The pre-game show begins at 6:50 on AM 1310 WICH and cttigers.com.
