Butler Added to Practice Roster

Calgary Stampeders News Release
The Calgary Stampeders have added international defensive back Quincy Butler to the practice roster.
The four-year veteran had been on the suspended list since June 1 to deal with legal matters stemming from an off-field incident. Butler last week pleaded guilty to a charge of assault causing bodily harm and was placed on 18 months probation.
"I made a mistake and accept the full consequences for my actions," said Butler. "I apologize to my teammates and the Stampeders organization for the harm that has been done. I'm grateful for the opportunity the team is giving me to prove that this incident does not define who I am. I want to put this behind me and show everyone who Quincy Butler really is."
"After meeting with Quincy, I know he is genuinely remorseful for what he has done," said Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel. "I think Quincy deserves a chance to prove himself as a person and as a football player. It's all up to him now."
Butler joined the Stamps in 2011 and has played 16 games over the past three seasons, accumulating 42 tackles, three special-teams tackles, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. He has also made three playoff appearances for Calgary, recording 14 tackles and one interception.
In another roster move, international running back Tory Harrison has been released from the practice roster.
