Missoula PaddleHeads News Release
MISSOULA, Mont. - Stewart Ijames led an offensive outburst as the Missoula Osprey crushed the Helena Brewers 11-4 in front of 2,209 fans at Ogren Park Allegiance Field to complete a two-game series sweep.
Missoula (15-14, 32-35) broke open the game early and chased out Helena starter J.B. Kole with six runs in the third inning. With the bases loaded thanks to two walks and a Sergio Alcantara single, Stewart Ijames, moving up a spot in the order to third, belted a grand slam over the centerfield wall.
The O's tacked on two more in the inning with a Gerard Hernandez two-run blast just inside the pole in leftfield. Hernandez did not disappoint in his Osprey debut with 3 RBI in a 3-4 performance.
After another Ijames blast to centerfield for a two-run round tripper in the fourth inning to give the slugger ten home runs and 30 RBI on the year, Missoula put two on the board again in the fifth inning and held an 11-1 edge.
Missoula starter Carlos Hernandez (5-4) gave up a run due to a balk in the fifth inning but shut down the Brewers offense with only two hits in five innings of work. Hernandez walked three and struckout four to win his second consecutive start.
Lawrence Pardo worked three innings in relief and got out to a fast tsart with four strikeouts but surrendered a three-run homer to right by Tucker Neuhaus to complete the scoring in the 11-4 Osprey victory.
Helena's (9-19, 22-44) starter Kole (2-3) was tagged with the loss with six earned runs in 2 2/3 innings. Donnie Hissa gave up four runs in relief in 2 1/3 innings before Josh Uhen went a scoreless three innings out of the Helena bullpen.
Missoula is in its last homestand of the season with a 6:00 p.m. first pitch tomorrow against Billings for a doubleheader. The Mustangs are in town for five games and the Osprey currently sit three games behind Billings in the North Division. Tickets for all Osprey games are available at the MSO Hub Box Office, by phone at (406) 543-3300 and online at MissoulaOsprey.com.
