Bats Finish Road Schedule, Win 8-3

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - In the final road game of the 2014 season, Louisville finished on a high note defeating Indianapolis 8-3 on Wednesday night at Victory Field.

Left-hander David Holmberg (2-6, 4.66) took the mound for the eighteenth time this season, looking for just his second win. He pitched five and one-third, allowed three runs on six hits, walked one and struck out six batters. The six strikeouts tied a season high for the left-hander.

Indianapolis starter Rafael Perez entered the game 3-0 with a 1.37 ERA and left the game 3-1 with a 1.59. He pitched five innings, allowed three runs, two earned, on six hits, walked one and struck out four. He allowed a home run to Steve Selsky, his first of his Triple-A career.

The Bats knocked out 14 hits on the night and six of them came from two players. Neftali Soto and Rey Navarro recorded their fifth and sixth three hits games respectively.

Now with 147 hits Jason Bourgeois tied his career-high in hits on Wednesday. He picked up two more hits on Wednesday, his forty-second multi-hit game of the season. The forty-two multi-hit games are the most by a Bats player since Chris Sexton in 2002.

Louisville (67-72) ends the road schedule two games under .500 at 35-37. The Bats will come back on Thursday to begin a three-game series with the Toledo Mud Hens at LSF at 7:05 p.m.. Right-hander Brett Marshall (1-9, 6.82) will get the ball for Louisville opposing right-hander Buck Farmer (0-1, 189.00).
