Rockford Aviators News Release

SCHAUMBURG, IL - Three runs in the first two innings helped propel the Schaumburg Boomers over the Rockford Aviators, presented by Pearson, 4-1 today at Boomers Stadium.

Ryan Zimmerman was seeking his seventh win in his last eight starts, but gave up two early runs to the Boomers in the first inning. Tony Delmonico recorded his fourth RBI of the series with a groundout to short that scored Alexi Colon and Mark Nelson followed with a RBI single of his own that scored Joe De Pinto to give the Boomers a 2-0 lead.

Gerard Hall ripped a solo shot over the left-center field wall in the bottom of the second inning to give the Boomers a 3-0 lead over the Aviators.

In the top of the fourth inning, the Aviators chipped away at the lead when Kenny Bryant recorded a RBI sacrifice-fly that scored Tanner Witt from third to make the score 3-1 in favor of the Boomers, but the Aviators would leave three runners in scoring position throughout the game and were unable to complete the comeback.

The Boomers got their run right back in the bottom of the fourth inning on a RBI single from Colon that scored Hall to make the score 4-1.

Zimmerman pitched the entire game for the Aviators. He went eight innings and allowed four runs on seven hits while walking three and striking out just one.

The Aviators will look to avoid the sweep tomorrow afternoon at 6:00 p.m. against the Boomers at Boomers Stadium in Schaumburg. Fans can listen to the broadcast on the Meridix Network. The link to the broadcast can be found at www.rockfordaviators.com.
