Spinners Beat Tigers

Norwich, CT - The Lowell Spinners (35-33) defeated the Connecticut Tigers (36-32) by the final score of 7-3 Monday night at Dodd Stadium. RF Mike Meyers (3-4) had a historic night for the Spinners. Meyers became the first player in Spinners history to record a three triple performance. Meyers added two runs score to his performance in the win over Connecticut.

The Tigers jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning after 3B Joey Pankake (1-3) hit an RBI single that scored SS Steven Fuentes (1-5). With the Tigers trailing 6-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning, 2B Brett Pirtle (2-4) cut the deficit to in half with a two run double. Connecticut let several scoring opportunities slip away. As a team they went 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine on base.

RHP Austin Pritcher (6-3) suffered his third loss of the season. After settling in with a quick one, two, three first inning, Pritcher struggled in the second inning as he gave up five runs on six hits which was highlight by 1B Nick Moore's (2-4) two run home run that put the Spinners in front 3-1. Pritcher pitched five innings while giving up five runs on eight hits.

In game two of the series, Tigers RHP Fernando Perez (4-4, 4.15) is slated to face Spinners RHP Jeffry Fernandez (0-1, 4.66). Tomorrow is Dollar Dogs! All hot dogs are just $1 all night and is presented by Kayem. It is also Tuesday Night Senior Night.
