Danks Optioned, Sierra to Begin Rehab Assignment Tonight

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - Chicago outfielder Moises Sierra, who is currently on the disabled list with a strained left oblique, will begin a Major League Rehab assignment with the Charlotte Knights tonight when the team plays the finale of their four-game series against the Norfolk Tides from BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte. Also on Monday, Charlotte Knights all-time hits leader Jordan Danks has been optioned to the Knights from Chicago. Danks has not been added to the Charlotte's active roster, which is currently at 25 active players.

Danks holds the Knights franchise record for hits with 446 and is also the all-time Knights franchise leader in games played (458), runs scored (250), triples (12), walks (211), and is tied with Joe Borchard for first in at-bats (1664). He ranks second all-time in doubles (95) and third in RBIs with 221. Only Danks and Borchard have compiled 1,600+ at bats, 400+ games played, and 400+ hits in Knights franchise history. In 88 games with the Knights this season, Danks is hitting .276 (91-for-330) with 51 runs scored, 18 doubles, 16 home runs, and 56 RBIs.

Sierra, 25, has appeared in 71 games for the White Sox this season and hit .289 (33-for-114) with six doubles, two home runs and seven RBIs. A native of Santo Domingo, DR, Sierra was acquired by the White Sox off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays on May 3, 2014. In three seasons at the Major League level, Sierra has hit .246 with nine home runs and 37 RBIs (168 games).

The Knights and Tides will conclude their four-game series tonight with a 7:05 p.m. game from BB&T Ballpark. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. as the Knights will go for the series sweep. All fans can enjoy $1 hot dogs at the ballpark on Monday, courtesy of Sahlen's. Fans can also bring their dogs out for the team's second Bark in the Ballpark game, courtesy of Purina and PetSmart.

Pre-game radio coverage tonight begins at 6:50 p.m. on ESPN Radio 730 AM, and WRHI (94.3 FM and 1340 AM).
