Power Drop Series Finale to Kannapolis

(Charleston, WV- August 24, 2014)- The West Virginia Power fell to the Kannapolis Intimidators 7-1 in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Appalachian Power Park. The Intimidators held the West Virginia offense to just one run to steal a game in the three-game series.

The Intimidators took the early lead in the first inning when Danny Hayes singled home Christian Stringer. West Virginia would answer to the tie the game in the a run in the fifth when Wyatt Mathisen tallied an RBI single, his seventh consecutive game with an RBI.

Kannapolis, however, came right back with a run in the sixth on a Toby Thomas sacrifice fly and then blew the game wide open with a pair in the seventh on an RBI base knock from Eddy Alvarez and then three more in the eighth.

Buddy Borden (7-8) was charged with the loss despite allowing just two runs while Chris Freudenberg (2-1) earned the win and Brad Salgado (3) tallied the save. The loss snapped West Virginia's season-best five-game home winning streak.

West Virginia visits the Lexington Legends on Tuesday, August 26, at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Cody Dickson will start against the Intimidators Chris Freudenberg.
