Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release

GARY, IN- The Gary South Shore RailCats pulled away with a 9-2 win over the Kansas City T-Bones on Saturday night.

Cats' starter Dustin Crenshaw loaded the bases in the first inning before recording an out. Nick Schwaner had an RBI fielder's choice but that was all the T-Bones got against Crenshaw in the inning.

In the bottom half, the Cats also loaded the bases with the first three they sent to the plate as Danny Pulfer, Drew Martinez and Zac Mitchell all had base hits. In his RailCats' debut, Henry Wrigley singled home Pulfer to tie the game. Josh Romanski had an RBI fielder's choice and Craig Maddox added a sacrifice fly that scored a run.

In the top of the second, Crenshaw started the inning with a pair of strikeouts before allowing a single to Vladamir Frias and an RBI double to T.J. Mittelstaedt, making it 3-2. The Cats came right back once again, scoring five runs in the bottom of the frame. Pulfer put down a bunt single and a throwing error from Mittelstaedt allowed a couple of runs to come across. Martinez followed with a base hit, his 143rd of the season, breaking Mike Massaro's single season RailCats' record. Mitchell had a two-RBI triple and Wrigley later knocked Mitchell in with a long single off the wall, extending the lead to 8-2.

In the bottom of the sixth, Wrigley picked up his third hit and third RBI of the night, driving in Drew Muren to stretch the lead out to 9-2. Ian Kadish took over for Crenshaw with two away in the seventh and finished out the 9-2 win for the Cats.

Crenshaw got the win, going 6.2 innings while allowing two earned runs and striking out six. Wrigley had an impressive debut for the Cats, finishing with three hits and three RBI. Martinez had his 43rd multi-hit game of the year, including the record-breaker. The RailCats and T-Bones will finish the series at 2:10 on Sunday. Dan Vaughan and Mike Woolf will have the call on WEFM and railcatsbaseball.com/live.
