Seven Late Runs Give Hoppers a 10-3 Win

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Greensboro broke open a 3-3 game with seven runs in the last three innings and topped the BlueClaws 10-3 on Saturday night at FirstEnergy Park.

Yefri Perez doubled off Will Morris to start the 7th inning, leading to an ejection of BlueClaws manager Greg Legg, who aruged that contact with the bat was made outside the batters box. JT Riddle then singled home Perez to put Greensboro ahead for good.

The Grasshoppers (37-25/81-51) added an 8th inning run off Morris on an RBI single by Kentrell Dewitt and they scored five times in the 9th inning off Delvi Francisco for the final margin.

Morris (1-3) allowed two runs in two innings and took the loss.

Lakewood (23-37/50-79) scored twice in the 6th inning to tie the game. Dylan Cozens hit his 15th home run of the season and Willians Astudillo added an RBI single which tied the game before Greensboro would score the game's final seven runs.

Astudillo went 2-4 for the BlueClaws and leads the league in hitting at .339. Since July 29th, Astudillo is 35-72.

Ranfi Casimiro gave up three runs for the BlueClaws in 4.2 innings but got a no-decision. Greensboro starter Domingo German also got a no-decision after allowing one run in four innings.

The attendance of 5,406 brings the BlueClaws to within 296 fans of the 6-million mark, which will fall on Sunday when the teams meet at 5:05 pm.
