Outlaws Set to Take on Rattlers in Tonight's 2014 MLL Championship

August 23, 2014 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL) - Denver Outlaws News Release

DENVER - The Denver Outlaws are set to make their fifth appearance in the MLL Championship game when they take on the Rochester Rattlers tonight at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, Ga.

Head Coach B.J. O'Hara looks to become the first head coach in MLL history to win MLL Championships with two different teams (Rochester '08, Denver '14), and is the only coach in league history to lead two different teams to the championship game.

He coached Rochester to its only franchise title back in 2008, when they topped Denver 16-6 in the title game.

The Outlaws have made the playoffs each of the nine seasons the franchise has existed, and their five championship appearances ranks tied for first with the New York Lizards for most in league history, and leads the MLL for most appearances per year of existent (5-of-9, .556).

The Denver Outlaws' active roster combines for a total 76 years of MLL experience, with players having taken the field for a cumulative 76 semifinal games and 28 championship games, with seven MLL Titles under their belt.

An 11-year MLL veteran, John Grant Jr. is 4-0 in title games-three of those wins coming against Denver in championship games-and rides a 9-game postseason win streak into tonight's contest.

"Junior is one of the best lacrosse players in the world, and on top of his obvious talent and leadership, he brings championship experience at every level he's played. That's one of the big reasons we brought him in. He's a winner, and that's what we need," O'Hara said.

Tonight's championship game starts at 7 p.m. EDT and will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network. Evan Washburn and Dave Ryan will have the call.
