RailCats and T-Bones Each Take One

GARY, IN- The Gary South Shore RailCats split a double-header with the Kansas City T-Bones on Friday night. The Cats won the first game 11-4 and dropped the second by a score of 5-2.
In game one, Ryan Babineau helped get the scoring started in the second inning with a lead-off triple, his second of the season. Josh Romanski followed with an RBI groundout to shortstop, giving the Cats a 1-0 lead.
The Cats used the help of a couple T-Bone errors to score four runs in the third inning. Babineau continued to roll with had a two-RBI single and Romanski picked up his second RBI of the game with a base hit. Kansas City got their first run in the fourth as Cats' Starter Morgan Coombs allowed two walks to start the frame. Coombs was able to limit the damage, allowing only one run on an RBI single from Nick Schwaner.
In the bottom of the inning, the Cats got a pair of runs on as Zac Mitchell drove in a run with a base hit and Babineau drove home another with a sacrifice fly. The T-Bones got a three-run homer from Matt Padgett in the top of the fifth to cut into the lead at 7-4. The Cats got a couple of those runs back in the bottom half with a two-RBI single from Drew Martinez, making it 9-4.
The Cats added some cushion to the lead in the sixth inning as Drew Muren had an RBI double and Ryan Brockett knocked him in to help the Cats to an 11-4 win.
In the second game, Nick McCully got the start for the Cats, making his team debut. In the first inning, he allowed a bases loaded walk to Bryan Sabatella to force in a run. With the bases still loaded, Robby Kuzdale dropped a single into shallow right field to score two more runs, giving Kansas City an early 3-0 lead.
In the second, Danny Richar hit a solo home run to make it 4-0. The Cats got it back in the bottom half with a Ryan Brockett RBI single.
The Cats got another run in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single from Martinez as Brockett came around to score, making it 4-2. In the top of the seventh, Robby Kuzdale drove in Schwaner with a single for some insurance at 5-2. T-Bones' closer came on and recorded his 19th save of the season, wrapping up the win for Kansas City.
